Abington COPES would like to remind everyone that mental health is just as important as physical health. Whether through self-care, reaching out to loved ones, or seeking professional help, small steps can make a meaningful difference.

Mental Health Awareness Month, observed each May, is a time to highlight the importance of emotional well-being and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. The month encourages open conversations about conditions like Depression, Anxiety, and stress, while promoting access to resources and support.

Key Statistics

  • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences mental illness each year.

  • 1 in 6 U.S. youth (aged 6-17) experiences a mental health disorder.

  • 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24.
